Listed in the above table are 5 of the more popular Virus Scanners along with the appropriate Dat-File Updates for each of the scanners. It is VERY important to ensure that you are running the latest version of the virus scanner engine BEFORE updating the Dat-Files for your virus scanner. Once you have the latest version of your virus scanner up and running be sure to come back to this page weekly for the latest Dat-File updates for your virus scanner. The Dat-File Updates are updates for your virus scanner which will protect your computer from the latest viruses. If you do not continually update your virus scanner your computer will be able to defend itself from old viruses, however any virus developed after your Dat-Files were made may be able to infect your computer. For this reason it is VERY important to keep the Dat-Files up to date.

Currently, one of the largest problems on the Internet (concerning viruses) are rumors. You may receive warnings in your Email saying "Do not open if it has THIS as the subject", and it may scare a lot of people into forwarding this type of warning to all of their friends. A great majority of these warnings are hoaxes and the viruses do not actually exist. The best way to be sure, is to visit Symantec's AntiVirus Research Center, which is an official list of all confirmed hoaxes on the Internet that Symantec is aware of. This site will lay to rest some of the fears you may have about Internet Viruses. If you receive a warning in your Email about a virus, before forwarding the message along to all of your friends, be sure to check out Symantec's AntiVirus Research Center to ensure that the virus does exist. If it doesn't there is no need to forward the message warning of a "new virus".

If you have any questions concerning viruses, please don't hesitate to email support@klis.com and someone would be glad to answer any questions you may have.
